Written by José Rivera Directed by Adam Knight In a land of unimaginable distance, can a stories forge connection? Can a life be encompassed in the space of a sonnet? A bold, ambitious, and celebratory piece of theatre to mark Riverside’s first season in its new home. Mia appearing as Hélène Bezukhova. Review: ‘Cinderella’ brings magic to Theatre Cedar Rapids stage Modern twists cast a spell over Rodgers & Hammerstein classic "...Making the magic More cheers erupted when the Fairy Godmother (Mia Fryvecind Gimenez) began the series of transformations that elicited oohs and aahs throughout the show. Fryvecind Gimenez is stunning visually and vocally. She may sing of “fol-de rol and fiddle dee dee,” but nothing is impossible when she waves her wand over Ella, a pumpkin and animals, and urges everyone in the audience wielding a glowing wand, saber and tiara to add their light to her spells. www.thegazette.com/article/review-cinderella-brings-magic-to-theatre-cedar-rapids-stage/?amp=1&fbclid=IwAR19koXC2y9c2frxlC2tWnP-OBfpLYyDLaZS68cQlAM4JEjVAkEu99liook ![]() In the Press: "It’s a poetic masterpiece, and I could go on for paragraphs about its themes and throughlines and artistry....I also want to note the distinct physicality and engaging expressiveness of Barrington Vaxter as Kevin (my notes on the moment literally just say “Barrington Barrington-ing”); the all-consuming, full-throated wholeness of Mia Fryvecind Gimenez as Cordelia; the exceptional honesty of Diviin Huff as Alene; the tireless focus of John William Watkins as Sam. But again, the whole cast shone, offering gracious, heartbreaking and heart-mending performances.
